Founded in 2000, Horses of Figueiras was created with a clear ambition: to breed Lusitanos capable of competing at the highest levels of modern sport while preserving the soul of the breed. The studfarm has since grown into a benchmark for quality, producing horses known for their balance, elasticity, and exceptional rideability.
One of the main differences in the selection process for mares at home was that they all underwent comprehensive testing (physical build, gait, trot, gallop, functionality, and load capacity), evaluated in various areas, both in dressage and in harness. This monitoring allowed their true potential to be observed. Mares that did not meet expectations in these tests were rejected.

Every horse born at Figueiras is raised with one goal: to reach its full potential, whether as a future sport horse or a trusted partner for a dedicated rider. From their first steps in the paddock to their first training sessions under saddle, our young horses are guided by experienced professionals.
Each one is evaluated for movement, temperament, and trainability. Only the most promising horses continue into the sport or are offered for sale. This careful selection ensures that every Figueiras horse represents the best of our breeding philosophy — athletic, willing, and elegant. Our sales collection reflects more than two decades of consistency and refinement. Many of our horses have gone on to compete internationally or to become cherished partners for riders across Europe.
